SQL Servers' GETDATE() function will return the current DateTime.  But what if you just want the current date.

CAST(FLOOR(CAST(GETDATE() AS float)) AS datetime)

or

CAST(CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 111) AS DATETIME)
